MDMA Ecstasy or Molly: Side Effects and Risks

List 1 might be thought of as the ‘hot as hell’ list of suspicious precursors, like safrole and psuedoephedrine. By itself (with no evidence that you plan to make illegal drugs) it’s not a crime to have a gallon of sassafras oil or some red phosphorus. If you can find somebody willing to sell you either (within the US) you aren’t doing anything illegal by buying them. Instead, the law applies to importers, manufacturers, and distributers. It is illegal to produce, import, or sell List 1 chemicals without the proper government permits and documentation. So, it’s legal for you to have sassafras oil (which is regulated as if it was pure safrole.)  However, you aren’t allowed to import or sell it or make your own without a permit.

Long-term side effects of MDMA

Please consult your healthcare provider if you think that using ecstasy or “molly” is right for you. MDMA is illegal, and there are reports that it can have negative health effects. However, because MDMA affects brain chemicals, some researchers think it could have lasting effects on areas, such as cognition and mood.

Medical

It’s a lot safer to test your limits instead of diving right in. After a week following moderate use of ecstasy, people can experience depression, irritability, anxiety, and problems with sleeping. As the effects begin to fade, people often take another dose of ecstasy to double the time it lasts. It takes about 45 minutes or longer to feel the effects of ecstasy. On average, one dose of ecstasy can last at least 3 hours overall. Along with these mental and physical effects of ecstasy, the drug also causes changes in how you see the world, such as not knowing what time it is or seeing things that are not there.

Contamination With Other Drugs

Sassafras oil is suspicious in ‘significant’ volumes; don’t try to order a liter of it. Purified safrole is suspicious in any quantity and should never be ordered. Congress passed the Synthetic Drug Abuse Prevention Act in July 2012, which controlled 26 compounds by name. But there are hundreds of compounds, and every time the government makes one illegal, chemists alter the formula slightly to make it a substance that is no longer controlled.

Therapeutic uses of MDMA

Unmarked molly may contain any number of additives, bulking agents, or drugs, increasing a person’s risk for adverse effects. Therapy is typically directed by a substance use clinic or health care provider and involve supportive care and behavioral and group therapy. It is also available as a powder and is sometimes snorted, taken as a liquid, and it is occasionally smoked but rarely injected. MDMA first became popular in nightclubs, but people now take it in a wide range of settings. Researchers are also studying MDMA as a treatment for depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in supervised clinical research trials. High doses of ecstasy can cause a spike in your body temperature.

Once the amalgam started to bubble (see video), they would add the methylamine solution and their 25 ml of PMK. This is reported to be a moderately exothermic reaction; it may want to boil without adding any heat, but should be easily contained by the reflux condenser. Once the reaction calms down, heat can be added to gently reflux the solution for another 4 hours. First, they would need to prepare a solution of methylamine freebase.

So, if Bob’s Super Supplement Company wants to buy a pill press from you, the government expects you to make some effort to make sure that’s a real business/customer and not just a fake name with an address at an abandoned warehouse. Do the guys selling pill presses on eBay (or the many other markets) actually do this? However well the system is being observed, there’s no shortage of drugs in America. If you want a good income source, stay in college and get a decent professional job.

MDMA exerts its primary effects in the brain on neurons that use the chemicals serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine to communicate with other neurons. Users may take several tablets at once or in succession over a period of time. Abusers may also use in conjunction with other psychoactive drugs like LSD. As with many other “party drugs”, ecstasy is rarely used alone and it is frequently combined with alcohol and marijuana. However, to be diagnosed with a substance use disorder, a person must meet specific diagnostic criteria for continued substance use despite negative consequences.

Molly is dangerous because of the toxic mix of unknown chemicals; users have no idea what they’re taking or at what dose. Unlike MDMA and other illegal drugs that have known effects on the body, the formulas for these synthetic drugs keep changing, and they’re manufactured with no regard to how they affect the user. Taking an adulterated drug can lead to unexpected and unwelcome side effects and may increase its potential health risks.

For a few years, in an attempt to circumvent the law, different versions of ecstasy were synthesized. This production was eventually outlawed but re-emerged as a problem around the year 2000 with the popularity of homemade crystal meth. MDMA is more likely to lead to a serious emergency, like an overdose, if it’s been cut with another drug.
